ACA's Standards Update course serves as a review and update to ACA's accreditation program and helps participants prepare for accreditation visits. This course is appropriate for individuals who have previously been involved in the preparation of materials for an accreditation visit, completed the 2012 Standards Course. Completion of this course is REQUIRED for camps participating in an accreditation visit in 2015. An updated 2012 Accreditation Process Guide (APG) is needed for this course; bring your copy with you to the course. SPACE IS LIMITED.

The ACA New Director Orientation Course (NDO) is a special seven hour course (7 CECs) for seasonal or new camp directors, assistant directors, program directors, or persons that have been in other administrative positions and are considering directing a camp. The NDO course helps directors and supervisors develop the skills they need to be effective leaders for their camp program. The course covers five critical areas: camp management leadership, risk management, camper behavior, staff training, and staff supervision.

Standards Course - appropriate for Individuals who are NEW to the Accreditation process and new camps seeking Accreditation. ACA's Standards course serves as an introduction to ACA's Standards Program and helps participants prepare for accreditation visits. The course describes the purpose and value of standards and accreditation, and gives an explanation of how the process works and what resources and materials are available. The course offers specific discussion about the requirements of the standards, including: application of the core and specialized activity standards, mandatory standards, and written documentation requirements. Completion of this course is required for camps participating in an accreditation visit in 2015. An updated 2012 Accreditation Process Guide (APG) is needed for this course; bring your copy with you to the course. There is no cost for this course and lunch is not provided.

Be sure to add this optional session to the 1/24/15 Standards Update Course or Visitor Update Course Work to with local Instructors to get some tips for working with My Accreditation and My Visits online portal and visit organization. This is a valuable tool for preparing for your Accreditation visit. Visitors need to be comfortable working with the tool too! Be sure to bring your lunch or options nearby (no meal provided).

Visitor Update Course - If a visitor attends this course, it “counts” as the standards update course for their camp requirement. REQUIRED update for all Visitors. ACA's Visitor Update course serves to update all current visitors who wish to visit camps are required to complete the Visitor Update Course prior to 2015 visits. New Standards introduced in 2012 and have been revised; revisions are effective for the 2015 accreditation visits. It is important for you to attend a Visitor Update Course to become up to date on the changes in the standards before you begin conducting Camp Self-Assessments and on site visits. Bring your UPDATED APG.
